Healthcare administration jobs in Vermont are expected to grow at a fast rate over the next several years, especially as the population ages. Older adults typically need more medical attention for various issues that arise due to ageing. Job growth will be even higher in long-term care and skilled nursing care facilities for the same reason. Group practices in Vermont that offer outpatient services will continue to expand, increasing the need for healthcare administrators. Currently most healthcare administrators work in hospitals, outpatient care centers, private physician practices, and nursing care facilities.

Healthcare administrators carry much more responsibility than office managers. They must possess a skill set that includes analytical business knowledge; medical and personnel issues and strategies; and a good grasp on governmental and insurance regulations that affect the way a medical practice can do business and still remain profitable. These and other variables make this field exciting and challenging as the various factors that affect each facet of the organization interact with each other.

Many healthcare administrators in Vermont have a background in both business management and medicine—some are practitioners who have transitioned to an administrative role. Those who seek a career in this field are forward thinkers who can proactively assess a changing environment and make necessary adjustments while maintaining a healthy relationship with employees and physicians while providing excellent service to patients.
