Education Foundation for LPNs in Vermont

The ultimate goal for aspiring licensed practical nurses (LPN) is to obtain a state nursing license and practice in the medical field. In order to do this, the correct educational preparation is necessary. Preparation can begin early by taking high school courses in mathematics and sciences, volunteering or finding part-time jobs in medical and healthcare facilities, and becoming familiar with medical terminology.

Beyond high school, a practical nurse training program offered through one of Vermont’s LPN Schools must be completed. LPN training programs typically take two years to complete in Vermont and can be found at vocational colleges, technical colleges, community or junior colleges, universities, and hospitals, as well as online schools. The LPN training programs must be accredited by The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).
