Those pursuing an education that will prepare them for certification will want to find an accredited program. The Dental Assisting National Board is in charge of the accreditation of all programs for dental assistants across the country through its Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). There are a number of Virginia dental assistant schools available.

Virginia Dental Assistant Continuing Education Requirements

Certified dental assistants should re-certify every three years with the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB). Currently there are not any state requirements in Virginia for continuing education for dental assistants, but given the fact that the Virginia state legislature is working on regulations for the profession, you should be aware that this could change in the near future.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Dental Assistants in Arlington, Richmond, Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Alexandria, Portsmouth and Hampton, Virginia may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the University of Virginia Medical Center, Saint Mary's Hospital, Lynchburg General Hospital and Inova Fairfax Hospital.
