Once you have completed high school you should find a Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) approved school or training program and enroll. Most dental assisting programs are one year or less in length, but make sure to check with the institution you are working with on the specific time requirements. There are a few dental assistant schools in Washington state. Dental assistants are not required to take any continuing education but must submit for a renewal license every three years to the national certification board.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Dental Assistants in Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane and Bellevue, Washington may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the University of Washington Medical Center, Swedish Medical Center, Sacred Heart Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center.
