- Explore Washington public health careers and find the one that is right for you. Volunteer or shadow a public health professional in a field that interests you.
- Decide what field most appeals to you (environmental health, medicine, health care, family and consumer sciences, technology, law, etc.
- Obtain your associates degree (any field) and/or
- Obtain your bachelors degree (any field).
- Obtain a postgraduate or professional degree in a public health related field. For example you could attend medical school or get your masters in public health or graduate from law school. The path is endless.
- Obtain professional licensure. This involves sitting for your profession’s certification exam.
- Join local and national professional organizations to stay current on research in the field.
- Apply for a job in a public health related organization for example a community clinic or a government public health organization.
