Individuals interested in a public health career will find helping to make Washington a clean, safe and healthy place rewarding. There are a variety of public health concerns in Washington. Many public health issues may occur on the local level, but extend to the state, nation or world. An environmental scientist in Washington may work toward educating the community and preventing the harmful effects of climate change at the state or national level. But specifically, work at the local level ridding the Puget Sound of harmful red tide or working to prevent the detriments of air pollution. You may see a doctor or nurse in public health working at a clinic to provide much needed prenatal treatment to indigent pregnant women.  The careers and opportunities for working in public health are endless and Washington public health schools have programs designed to prepare you for any of them.

Continuing Education in Washington Public Health

Continuing education is one of the most important aspects of being a professional. Continuing education allows public health professionals to develop their practice and to serve communities to the best of their ability. No matter what the profession, if you are licensed or certified, expect continuing education to be required of you. The activities that meet continuing education will vary from profession to profession, which is why it is important to contact the national organization that certifies the profession.  Most organizations that obligate continuing education will also require continuing education activities that are specific to the profession.  After continuing education ventures are found, it is best to choose areas that focus on public health.
