Occupational Therapy Courses in West Virginia
All education programs integrate both general core science courses and more career focused courses. For instance, occupational therapy students in West Virginia can expect instruction in general science, biology, chemistry, physics, health, anatomy and physiology. On the other hand, career specific coursework typically found in West Virginia occupational therapy courses will likely include: clinical anatomy, occupational sciences, functional movement, therapeutic activity, research methods, testing and measuring procedures, vision and cognition, and prosthetics and orthotics
Continuing education requirements for OTs can vary from state to state. In West Virginia CE hours/credits must be focused on occupational therapy as it pertains to theory or practice. These hours must be formally documented. Also, occupational therapys must complete and submit 12 hours of CE every year in conjunction with license renewal application.
CE credits must meet the approval of the AOTA.
Several options for attaining CE credits, suggested by AOTA include:
- attending professional workshops, seminars, conferences, and lectures
- successfully completing an occupational therapy course through a technical adult education course at a state university
- online activity
- videotaped presentation
