In Wisconsin, medical technologist certification is what sets you off among the unexperienced. Before you can be considered eligible for certification, however, you must first complete your education at a medical technologist school in Wisconsin.

You will need to have a bachelor degree or higher in clinical sciences of health sciences to begin a career in medical technology. This is a 4-year degree program, and it will give you the foundation and much-need skills to pursue entry-level work as a medical technologist. While you can certainly go after the master degree, most students in Wisconsin begin by pursuing the bachelor degree.

After you have finished your schooling, the next step is to prepare for certification through examination. The certifying and testing board is the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Passage of the ASCP test will give you the title of Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).
