It might be assumed that healthcare administration jobs in Wyoming are occupied only by people who have dedicated their education to administrative duties like accounting and human resources, or staff management. The truth is that there are many routes to take to enter this field, and not all of them begin with an administrative knowledge base.

Wyoming laws do not currently require that any healthcare administrators be licensed. In fact, the only healthcare administrator licenses that are issued are those that are issued to administrators of nursing homes and other long term care facilities. These administrators need to be certified and then apply for licensure through the Wyoming Board of Nursing Home Administrators.

All other types of administrators may be offered healthcare administration jobs in Wyoming based on the fact that they have a master’s degree in some field of medicine, have had some experience in an administrative role, and agree to continued learning based on the requirements of the facility by which they are employed.

Future healthcare administrators should understand that they are the ultimate answering authority in the institution. They are responsible for making sure that all administrative tasks are complete. They must be well versed in a variety of insurance billing methods, as well as human resource management, accounting services, patient care, and the medical laws that govern Wyoming facilities and practices. Leadership skills and the ability to delegate are also vital to this profession.
