So, how do you get there? As with any career path, the journey begins with education through one of the accredited online or campus based Wyoming medical technician schools. Colleges and vocational schools in Wyoming offer training for aspiring medical technicians. The Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLA) is the accrediting body for training programs. There are 1-year certificate programs and 2-year degree programs available. Throughout your coursework, you’ll be challenged and intellectually stimulated. You’ll also be given many opportunities to practice your skills hands-on. Upon graduation, you can sit for the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification exam. The state of Wyoming has not made certification necessary for medical technicians, but some employers in the state will only hire certified MLT’s. . Whether or not your prospective employer requires it, certification is an excellent way to help yourself stand out as a serious professional in the busy and competitive field of healthcare.
