Pharmacy Tech Continuing Education and Re-Certification in Wyoming

Re-certification is required every 2 years in Wyoming. Re-certification generally occurs with the original agency that certification was acquired through. For instance, if a pharmacy technician took the certification exam through The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, then re-certification should happen through them. Regardless of which agency is used, the criteria for re-certification are fairly standard. Twenty hours of continuing education is mandatory to have been completed within the previous 2 years. The other specific requirement is that one hour of the 20 hours must be about Pharmacy law.

CE can be earned at many different venues. Pharmacy Associations, colleges, Pharmacy Tech organizations throughout Wyoming are all available to offer continuing education. Technicians can also earn up to 10 hours of continuing education by working under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist. The Pharmacist must provide direct instruction for the CE to be considered valid.

Topics that are considered appropriate CE include therapeutic issues, calculations, drug repackaging, interpersonal skills, and prescription compounding, as well as college courses in math or life sciences.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Pharmacy Techs in Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Gillette and Rock Springs, Wyoming may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, Saint John's Medical Center and Wyoming Medical Center.
