Acupuncture School in Oklahoma - OK

Oklahoma does not regulate or license acupunturists at this time. It also has no certification or practice act specific for acupuncturists according to the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). This does not mean they take the practice of acupuncture any less serious than other states however. In fact, some of the first Americans trained in Chinese Medicine at the New England School of Acupuncture were in Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma Healing Arts Institute. This makes Oklahoma one of the pioneer states to introduce the practice of acupuncture in the US.

Acupuncture schools in Oklahoma are available in some of the larger cities like Oklahoma City or Norman. One program that qualifies you to practice acupuncture in Oklahoma is a degree in Chiropractic medicine. Many schools in Oklahoma offer programs for students who wish to become a Chiropractor. The program consists of 60 hours of college credits, including 4 years of residency at a chiropractic college. The Chiropractor is required to register with the Chiropractic Board in order to practice acupuncture as defined in the 1999 Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Laws. For any required intern needs contact some of the local medical facilities such as Saint Francis Hospital, and Saint Anthony Hospital to see if they offer internships.
