Acupuncture Studies in Connecticut - CT

The next step in your career path to becoming a licensed acupuncturist in Connecticut consists of participating in hands on clinical acupuncture training. Not only is it a requirement for professionals to have this training before being licensed, it is also the best way to take your educational base and turn it into professional skill.

Acupuncture training programs consist of working in a clinical environment alongside the most educated, experienced practitioners.  You will have the opportunity to work with patients and determine the appropriate method of treatment. In addition, you will actually be performing the techniques of acupuncture therapy.

Furthermore, the Connecticut Department of Health requires that you complete an acupuncture training program with at least 1,350 hours of didactic and clinical training; 500 of these hours must be strictly clinical training. Overall, training generally lasts between 6 months and 12 months, depending on how much time you have to dedicate to the program.

Before completing this program, your acupuncture studies in Connecticut will include:

  • Anatomy, Physiology, and Disease Processes
  • Clinical Research
  • Acupuncture Techniques
  • Emergency Medicine
  • Meridian Theory

Once your training is complete, you can take the next step in the licensing process, which is certification. Acupuncturists in Connecticut are certifiable through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
