Acupuncture Studies in Georgia - GA

To receive a license to practice acupuncture in Georgia, you must be certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). The NCCAOM requires acupuncturists to complete a four-year acupuncture master’s degree at an accredited acupuncture school, comprising at least 3000 hours of study. Though acupuncture training programs vary in curriculum and focus, most include courses in human anatomy and physiology, and the tradition and philosophy of acupuncture.

Some acupuncturists seek additional credentials in the form of a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, which requires an additional 1200 hours of training over two years.

Acupuncture training in Georgia may also include studying related areas of natural medicine, like herbalism. This allows acupuncturists to offer a more holistic course of treatment to their patients.

To renew your license and keep your skills sharp over the years, you’ll also need to take continuing education courses on a regular basis. These are easily completed through online programs that are approved by the NCCAOM for the state of Georgia.

Once you’ve completed acupuncture training in Georgia and received state certification, you’ll be ready to start your career. Acupuncturists put their skills to use in many different workplaces, from large hospitals to Chinese medicine clinics to small private practices, in cities like Atlanta, Savannah, and Macon.
