Alabama dental assistants are not regulated by the state or by the Alabama Board of Dental Examiners. Alabama dental assistant training is usually done on-the-job, although there are several dental assistant training programs available at technical colleges and a state university in Alabama. Another avenue for dental assistant training is through the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS), which offers a Dental Assistant Trainee Program with several weeks of rotations through various dental clinic functions.
