Medical Transcriptionist Schools in Alabama - AL

To become a medical transcriptionist, the candidate must have formal high school education, as most professions in the medical field require this. The candidate must have graduated with a G.E.D or diploma from the high school. Following this, the candidate must first decide if they desire a long-term career in Medical Transcription. If the candidate wishes to be a RMT (Registered Medical Transcriptionist) they may enroll in one of the Alabama medical transcription schools. If the candidate decides to pursue a long-term career in Medical Transcription, they will be required to complete a 1-year certificate course. They must also participate in up to two years of acute training in different format, report, and dictation types in multiple-specialty surgery areas. After completing this, they will be considered a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT).

As the candidate receives experience by working continuously, they may be given chances to advance in this field. Candidates could advance by becoming Medical Transcription business owners. Other forms of advancement in this field include positions such as ‘Medical Coders’, ‘Health Information Administrators’ and ‘Medical Records and Health Information Technicians.’
