Biomedical Equipment Technician School in New Jersey – NJ
New Jersey is the location of some of the world’s most successful biomedical enterprises. Integra LifeSciences Corporation in Plainsboro; GenScript USA in Piscataway; and New Brunswick Scientific in Edison are just a few of the biomedical companies with a home base in New Jersey. It stands to reason, then, that the field of biomedical engineering technology would be a hot one in this state. There is an abundance of biomedical technician schools in New Jersey that are graduating both biomedical engineers and biomedical engineer technicians (BMETs) each term.
All one needs is an associate degree to break into the BMET field in New Jersey. Community and vocational colleges, and private universities all provide education in the biomedical engineering technology realm. Courses common to most biomedical technician school programs include medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical electronics, and customer service. In a BMET training program, you will learn to work on a host of biomedical equipment found in medical facilities, including ventilators, infusion pumps, ultrasound machines, x-ray machines, and electroencephalographs. Most college BMET programs in New Jersey also feature at least one internship opportunity, in which you are placed in a real medical facility to perform work that you will be expected to be proficient in as a BMET after graduation. Some medical facilities in New Jersey that could host an internship placement include Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Bergen Regional Medical Center, Atlanticare Regional Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center.
