Chiropractic School in Oregon - OR

Chiropractic school in Oregon is slightly more structured and demanding than it is in other states, but students who successfully complete their education and begin a practice in the state stand to gain a fulfilling, lucrative career. Chiropractic education can be divided into two parts: Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE) requirements, and state specific licensing requirements. While CCE requirements are the same across the nation, each state maintains its own necessities for education, practical experience, and supplementary courses.

The Oregon Board of Chiropractic Examiners does not require any practical experience beyond that gained in the Doctor of Chiropractic degree program, but it does outline some necessary educational achievements. In addition to two years of liberal arts and sciences, the state of Oregon requires thirty six hours of surgery and proctology studies. All of Oregon's educational requirements can count towards the ninety semester hours that the CCE requires for students to begin a Doctor of Chiropractic program.

Preliminary educational requirements can be fulfilled online or at almost any of Oregon's thirty-nine accredited four year institutions, but Doctor of Chiropractic programs are offered by only sixteen institutions nationwide. Many colleges online and in Oregon offer chiropractor programs that are developed to fulfill the state's minimal licensing requirements other than the actual Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
