Dental assistants are more marketable if they complete a certificate program. These programs generally last from nine to twelve months and are offered at community colleges. Colorado Dental Assistant Continuing Education Requirements

Dental assistants are not required by the state of Colorado to complete any continuing education requirements. If you perform expanded functions or operate x-ray equipment, there may be additional requirements to be met. Many dental assistants will choose to further their education by attending dental hygiene school, using their experience as a dental assistant to meet the required prerequisites.
