To be able to work as a Physician Assistant in Connecticut, licensure and national certification is required. Both of these requirements have more requirements in themselves. For both of these you must have graduated from an ARC-PA (Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant) accredited program offered by a number of Physician Assistant schools in Connecticut. Most of the programs are master degree programs.  In order to get into these programs a bachelor degree is a prerequisite. Many will complete their bachelor’s program in some health care related field or pre-med, while others choose a science degree like biology or chemistry. 

If accepted to a Physician Assistant University in Connecticut, the student will take classes in gross anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and many other medical field classes. Not only do the students learn in the classroom and laboratory, clinical rotations are completed in which the student is able to be hands on and try out several specialties. Most rotations consist of internal/family medication, obstetrics and gynecology, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics and surgery. All of these rotations are completed under the supervision of a physician. There are two accredited Physician Assistant programs offered by Physician Assistant Schools in Connecticut.
