Hawaii Dental Hygienist Military
Dental coverage is provided for all military personal and their families. While dentists are employed by the military, dental specialists serve alongside them and perform a variety of duties similar to those performed by dental assistants and dental hygienists. Dental specialists are required to undergo nine weeks of Basic Training in military soldiering skills and an additional 30 weeks of Advanced Individual Training that primarily focuses on dental education and procedure. If a dental specialist is interested in pursuing a dental career beyond the military, they may be able to use their GI Bill to cover a dental hygiene education.
