There is one dental hygienist school in Rhode Island. The degree conferred is an Associates in Science in Dental Hygiene. Courses involve general courses as well as the focused courses such as Dental Anatomy and Oral Histology, Orientation to Clinical Dental Hygiene, Medical-Dental Emergencies, Head and Neck Anatomy, Clinical Dental Hygiene 2, 3, 4, and much more. The program is also accredited through the Commission on Dental Accreditation, which is through the American Dental Association. Continuing Education Requirements/Licensure Renewal

Dental hygienist licenses in Rhode Island are renewed annually. On or before May 1 of even-numbered years, dental hygienists must prove that they have completed 20 hours of continued education in the previous two years. Courses must be related to the field of dental hygiene. If someone has had a license for less than two years, the requirement shall be prorated so that approximately 10 hours of continued education will be required per year. See section 10.2.1 of document: All those dental hygienists working in an office setting have to receive one hour each year of OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards training. License registration for one year will occur with completion of all the previous continued education training.
