Exercise Science Degrees in Pennsylvania - PA
You can obtain an exercise science degree in Pennsylvania either online or in a traditional classroom setting. Programs include common elements, but are not all alike. You will have opportunities to specialize at either the baccalaureate or master’s level. Some programs for instance, emphasize exercise physiology; these help a student understand not only basic strength and conditioning issues but also appropriate exercise for reducing coronary heart disease. Rehabilitation science, on the other hand, focuses on helping people regain functionality after illness or injury.
Those who already have high levels of education may opt for post-master’s certificates in some area of specialization. This can be an excellent opportunity for professionals who are working in the health field to increase their skills and their employment options.
After program culmination, you may have an opportunity to sit for board exams through one of several agencies. The ACSM offers a variety of certifications for people at different points in their career. Starting in July of 2011, the Certified Health Fitness designation will require a baccalaureate degree; the Certified Exercise Physiologist certification already requires a master’s. If a person has any valid certification and enough experience working with older adults, they can also become a Certified Cancer Personal Trainer.
