Health Education in Florida
Becoming a health educator in Florida will require a master’s degree in health education. By earning a bachelor’s degree, an individual can begin student teaching as they work towards completing a master’s program.
Florida’s educational standards for health teachers are established by two organizations: The Florida Department of Education and the Florida Department of Health.
It is a given that all health educator careers in Florida will begin by receiving teacher certification after completion of a bachelor’s program.
Upon completion of one of Florida’s health educator programs, graduates will contact the Florida Department of Education to learn about the licensing standards. Florida’s licensing standards call on graduates to provide verification of completed education, teacher certification, and the demonstrated ability to perform the functions of the profession. This is often demonstrated through letters of reference from former employers and/or coworkers in the same field.
