Health Informatics Degree in Connecticut - CT

While medical informatics programs in Connecticut exist, the state's schools don't yet offer any programs that have been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM). Due to the new and still developing nature of the health informatics field, this is actually the case for many states across the nation.  Online programs; however, are available as alternative to conventional campus based schooling.

The lack of CAHIIM accredited programs within the state shouldn't act as deterrent for up and coming students. While CAHIIM is one of the most prominent accrediting organizations within the industry, there are no state requirements and rarely any employer requirements associated with the accreditation. Often, students who have completed a bachelor or master's degree in a relevant field are considered qualified for health informatics positions. Specific positions will almost certainly have specific requirements associated with them, the majority of which can be met by acquiring a well-rounded health information or information technology focused college education.

Many students in Connecticut who wish to complete a CAHIIM accredited program choose to pursue their degree through distance learning programs. Distance education delivers the utmost in selection and flexibility, allowing students to complete degree programs from across the nation at their own pace. According to the U.S. Department of Education, about two-thirds of American colleges offer distance learning.
