Health information technology is one of the few career paths in the health industry that doesn’t involve direct contact with patients. Instead, employees work primarily with data and technology. For this reason, HIT is a less regulated industry than most health fields. Because health technicians manage electronic health records (EHRs) and process medical data, however, they do play an important part in insuring patient health and security.
