Those interested in starting an ambitious career as a nutritionist in Michigan will need to complete a few essential steps prior to employment.

The first step is to gain education in nutrition. In Michigan, nutritionists must hold a bachelor, master, or doctorate degree in a nutrition-related major, such as nutrition education, foods systems management, human nutrition, or foods systems management. The second step is to complete at least 900 hours of practical experience performing the professional duties of a nutritionist. Clinical training must be supervised by either a licensed nutritionist or dietitian in a health care facility.
