An individual interested in knowing how to become a physician assistant in Maryland should note that once you pass the exam, you may begin using the PA-C initials after your name.  Ideally after you have been offered a job, but before you actually start working, you will apply for to the Maryland Board of Physicians for a license and delegation.  There is a $175 license application fee, and it normally takes 2-4 weeks to process.  Delegation requires a $200 fee and PAs must find a supervising physician with whom they arrange a formal agreement outlining the terms of the professional relationship.  The supervising physician named in the delegation is one that works at the establishment where you will be working.  Delegation must be approved by the Board of Physicians before a license will be granted.
