How to Become a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Wyoming – WY

According to the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, radiology technologists (including nuclear medicine technologists) are among the highest paying and fastest growing occupations in the state. In fact, by 2012 at least 350 radiology and nuclear medicine technologists are expected to be employed in Wyoming. Professionals and healthcare industry applicants that are interested in starting exciting nuclear medicine technologist careers in Wyoming will need to acquire education, training, certification, and professional licensing in radiology and/or nuclear medicine technology.

The Wyoming State Board of Radiologic Technologist Examiners is the authoritative body regulating all radiology occupations in Wyoming. In order to obtain a radiology license to practice nuclear medicine technology, professionals must first successfully complete a radiology technology-related academic program that is recognized by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiology Technology (or an equivalently regarded accrediting agency). Next, all nuclear medicine technologists in Wyoming must have active status with the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT), the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or the Certification Board of Radiology Practitioner Assistants (CBRPA). Lastly, nuclear medicine technologists will need to submit an application for radiology licensure along with an application fee of $185 to the board. General radiology licenses in Wyoming are valid for two years.
