How to Become an MRI Technician in Illinois
MRI Technician Training in Illinois
Illinois does not require licensing of MRI technicians/ technologists. It is unregulated. However, few if any employers will hire you without certification in MRI by either the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT). As such, to become a working MRI technologist in Illinois it is recommended that you follow the following steps:
- Enroll in a school that offers an appropriate MRI training program, and ensure that upon graduation you will be eligible to sit for either the ARRT or ARMRIT MRI certification exam.
- Once certified, MRI technologist in Illinois should also be aware that potential employers, as a condition of employment only, may also require that you also be an ARRT radiographer and in possession of an Illinois radiography license. Please recognize that this is a condition of employment only and not a regulatory requirement.
