How to Become an MRI Technician in Indiana

MRI technician training is an extremely hands-on externship with an important part to play in the future of anybody who hopes to build a career as an MRI technician. Because learning through training is crucial to professional development, these training programs are designed to be challenging and intense.

The state of Indiana does not require a specific amount of contact hours for MRI technician training. However, each individual school is responsible for developing a training program that it feels is the most beneficial to its students. On average, MRI technician training externships in Indiana last in duration anywhere between 3 and 6 months.

During MRI technician training, you will work in the MRI department of a local clinic or hospital in Indiana with experienced MRI technicians to learn some very valuable aspects of the job, including:

  • Patient positioning techniques
  • Optimizing MRI images

While it is not necessary to have a license in the State of Indiana, most employers are very firm about MRI technicians being adequately certified. By taking the test from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), you can be issued the title of Certified MRI Technologist.
