Integrative Medicine Careers in North Carolina - NC

In years past, if you wanted to get into medicine your career choices would be limited by what our culture defined as “medical”. Now, however, that is quickly changing. As our world shrinks and Western culture becomes exposed to other traditional forms of healing, these methods are also challenging how we think about our bodies. The holistic approach to healing consists of looking at everything going on in a person’s life, from his or her diet to the levels of stress he or she may be experiencing. It doesn’t mean you forget going to a medical doctor, it simply means incorporating medical treatments with other measures outside conventional medicine.

This approach means you might seek healing advice from a life coach for instance. Job opportunities have sprung up throughout North Carolina for other types of alternative practitioners. Some career examples to look for are:

  • Yoga trainers
  • Holistic Herbalist
  • Kinesiology
  • Massage therapist
  • Energy Healer
  • Biofeedback
  • Acupuncturist

Check with some of the major medical facilities such as the Alamance Regional Medical Center, Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Mission St. Joseph’s Health System, and Duke University Medical Center that have been known to advocate the use of certain complimentary and alternative approaches to integrative medicine.
