You should expect to go to school for about 6-8 months to become a Pharmacy Technician in Maine, though shorter and longer programs can be found and offer varying degrees of experience and training.

Continuing Education for Pharmacy Technicians in Maine

The state of Maine does not yet require its Pharmacy Technicians to undergo continuing education at the moment, though certification by the PTCB does require 10 hours of continuing education every year for the certification to remain valid. It is also not unheard of for Pharmacy Technicians working at big chain stores to be required or encouraged by the company to pursue some form of continued education.

The Maine Office of Licensing, however, does require Pharmacy Technicians to renew their registration yearly, which costs $25 dollars.

Through campus based and online programs, aspiring Pharmacy Techs in Portland, Lewiston, Bangor, West Scarborough and Sanford, Maine may be able to prepare themselves for the possibility of employment in some of the largest hospitals and healthcare facilities in the state including the Maine Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Brighton Medical Center and St. Josephs Hospital.
