Physical Therapy Programs in Missouri - MO

Two types of education programs are offered for physical therapists in Missouri. One program begins at the freshman level and extends for six and one-half years. Divided into two distinct phases, this program includes a pre-professional section of liberal arts and science courses as well as professional training based on clinical experiences. After four years in this program, students receive the Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science degree. After completion of the clinical experiences, students are awarded the Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. In addition to Missouri physical therapy schools, there are a variety of online degree options.

Missouri students may also choose one of five accredited three-year physical therapy programs. These courses of study require a bachelor’s degree with a primary focus on developing the skills and ability to provide professional services in a caring and professional manner. Students also learn and prepare for everything from assuming leadership positions at any healthcare facility to working as independent clinicians.  Participating in classes, case studies, research, and clinical experience, students learn and integrate material from all of the sciences relevant to clinical practice. They explore and understand the impact of structure, function, disease, and aging on the ability of the human body to move, function and respond to treatment.
