Montana Ultrasound Technician Schools - MT

Montana ultrasound technicians are responsible for using high-tech equipment to gather images of the human body.  Physicians will then take those specific images and use them to diagnose patients and arrive at the best method of treatment.

In Montana ultrasound technicians find that opportunities are expanding and growing as more people are selecting safer diagnostic procedures to monitor the human body from inside.  The use of ultrasound does not produce any harmful radiation.  In Montana, most ultrasound technicians work in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, private doctor offices and public health facilities.  An ultrasound technician may also choose to specialize in obstetrics & gynecology (female reproduction), neurosonography (brain), echocardiography (heart) abdominal sonography (liver, spleen, pancreas and kidney) vascular technology (veins and arteries), ophthalmology (eye) and breast screening.

Most employers in Montana prefer to hire ultrasound technicians that have earned training through an accredited program.  In Montana, there is currently no state licensing requirement for ultrasound technicians.  In addition, many employers in Montana are looking to hire ultrasound technicians who have registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), as it confirms the skills, knowledge and abilities of the ultrasound technician.  They register ultrasound technicians or sonographers who successfully pass a test that is geared towards their procedures and general equipment within their specialty.

Education options in Montana would include participating in training programs offered by hospitals, military branches and private ultrasound technician technical schools.  Individuals may consider attending a college or university that offers a two or four year program ultimately resulting in an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
