Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program in Mississippi - MS

Enrollment in a neonatal nurse practitioner program in Mississippi prepares individuals for the demands and rigors as well as the rewards and successes of a career in the field.  Through class work in content areas such as embryology, pharmacology and family dynamics, aspiring neonatal nurse practitioners develop an understanding of core concepts that will facilitate their more seamless transition from classroom to career.

In addition, hands-on learning experiences through practica allow them to apply their textbook learning to real-world settings so that they are well prepared for the kinds of demands they will encounter on the job.  Completion of these studies leads to a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree.

The Mississippi Board of Nursing can license graduates of MSN programs.  Moreover, they can be recognized by Mississippi as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) since they hold graduate degrees.

Those wish to be nationally certified as national neonatal intensive care nurse practitioners can take the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties’ (NCC) examination, which tests their competencies and knowledge acquisition.  Test takers must not only be licensed, but must also have at least two years of work experience totaling a minimum of 2,000 hours.
