Radiology Tech Certification in New Jersey - NJ
New Jersey Radiology Technician Continuing Education
For those with a New Jersey radiology technician certification through ARRT, every two years when license is up for renewal, they are required to comply with the continuing education requirements as established by the ARRT. If your route to New Jersey licensure included only taking the New Jersey radiology technician certification examination, then you are not required to submit any continuing education hours.
The ARRT requires 24 continuing education hours to be reported every two years. The activities must all be approved through a Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism (RCEEM) in order to satisfy this requirement. Activities that are accepted can include but are not limited to attendance and/or presentation at a professional conference or symposium, publication in a radiology technology textbook or a peer reviewed journal, completion of courses or examinations towards an advanced certification, and instruction of or certification in CPR, as provided through either the American Safety and Health Institute, the American Heart Association, or the American Red Cross. Random audits are conducted during each renewal period, so it is important to keep accurate records of all activities completed for continuing education.
New Jersey Radiology Tech Associations
While not required, it is highly recommended by educators and employers alike that radiology technologists hold membership in at least one professional association. In addition to networking and volunteering opportunities, membership is also beneficial because of discounted rates at conferences, accessibility to professional journals and research, and the support of the association in public relations and legislative issues. These associations are governed by a volunteer board of directors, who uphold the bylaws and policies of the association. The American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) is the most recognized association nationally and the Radiological Society of New Jersey (RSNJ) is its state affiliated association.
