North Dakota Radiology Technician Education

To prepare for certification as a Radiologic Technologist, candidates must go through a formal program for a certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree through one of the North Dakota radiology technician schools or online programs.

In North Dakota, there are a few programs approved by the ARRT, and are offered at medical centers and hospitals throughout the state. These programs normally take 24 months to earn a certificate in radiologic technology, but some programs offer a Bachelor’s degree in addition to the certificate, and these usually take four years to complete.

Depending on the program you choose, you will most likely need to submit an application and fee, SAT or ACT scores, letters of recommendation, and official high school and/or post-secondary school transcripts.

RT educational programs generally consist of in-class learning followed by clinical rotations. In-class topics cover medical terminology, patient positioning, laboratory education, radiation protection, pathology, and quality assurance. Rotation shifts in the clinical setting give students the chance to apply their knowledge in a practical setting with patients. Instruction and rotations are intended to prepare students for national certification and registration as a Radiologic Technologist.
