Cardiovascular Technology Training in Ohio - OH

Cardiovascular technology training in Ohio is included in the curriculum of Ohio's cardiovascular technologist programs, and serves as the cornerstone to the foundation that students build while they are in school.

Supervised, hands-on training is absolutely necessary for a successful career as a cardiovascular technologist. In addition to giving students the opportunity to apply what they are learning in their cardiovascular technologist programs, this essential experience also gives students the opportunity to build a solid entry-level resume.

On-site training usually begins when students are in their first, second, or third semester of their education programs. Students typically begin their training by watching a professional perform her work in a hospital or clinical setting. Once they can demonstrate that they have enough skills and knowledge to take on more tasks, the cardiovascular technologist (their supervisor) will allow them to have more responsibility.

Cardiovascular technologist programs provide on-site experience in a hospital or clinical setting—they may even send their students exclusively to a single hospital or clinic (e.g., Akron City Hospital or The Cleveland Clinic). This training counts toward their degrees, and if recorded, can count toward certification.

Once a student has completed her education, she can apply for cardiovascular technologist certification through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS,, Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI,, or another organization that certifies cardiovascular technologists in Ohio. Cardiovascular technologist certifications are valid for up to two years, and can be renewed by participating in seminars, college classes, and professional symposiums.
