There are many opportunities for those interested in becoming a personal trainer in the state of Ohio.  Almost all of the major cities have many employment opportunities, found all throughout the state.  As America grows more health conscience, health and fitness as a field is rapidly growing as well. The fitness industry in Ohio is feeling the effects of this growth as much as any state.  Over the next ten years a fifty percent growth in the number of employed personal trainers is expected.  Most personal trainers are employees of a gym, health club, or other health and fitness related business, though many are self-employed. 

In Ohio, personal training courses online prepare you to be able to become nationally certified if you choose to pursue this elective process.  This will involve additional fees and an exam testing competency.  You may submit your completed exam anytime within those six months, or nine months, depending on which exam you take. A ninety percent or better is required to pass the examination.

If you do not pass your examination, you may take it one more time with no further charge.  Upon failure to pass, you will receive your test through mail or e-mail with the incorrect answers marked in red.  You then have sixty days to correct your answers and send the test back.  After more than one time a thirty dollar retest fee will be applied.  You will not receive your certificate until you have met all the test requirements necessary.

Recertification varies depending on which certification exam you have passed.  Some certifications require you to become recertified after four years, though others require it after only two.  Recertification can be expensive, with some exams costing up to eight hundred dollars, though most are in the four to five-hundred dollar range.
