You will need to enroll in a program offered through either online or campus based ultrasound schools that have received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (http://www.caahep.org/). Courses are available online or at various institutions offering health services education. Training can be completed in 2 years for an associate's degree. Those wishing to further their careers can opt for more advanced degree programs. Costs will vary depending on the institution you choose to attend. On average, you can earn your degree in about 41 credit hours. You courses will include ultrasound physics, instrumentation, ultrasound technology, courses on each different ultrasound type, biology, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and technical report writing, among others. . You will also be required a number of hours worth of clinical experience to be eligible for graduation and to take the board certification exams.
