Ultrasound Technician School in Utah - UT

Ultrasound technicians in Utah usually spend three years in an Associate's degree program before they can begin their professional practice. A typical Associate's degree program consists of classes in ultrasound physics, human anatomy, medical terminology, echocardiography, neurosonography, and abdominal, OB/GYN, and vascular sonography. Applicants usually complete their clinical training alongside their classes, and are required to take classes in mathematics, physics, English, communications, ethics, and the humanities to build their analytical, critical thinking, interpersonal, and scientific reasoning skills.

Ultrasound technicians in Utah must gain 16 continuing education credits for every licensing period, or every two years. They can obtain continuing education credits through classes, lectures, presentations, and other activities organized by the ARRT, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, or an accredited college, university or organization.

Diagnostic medical sonography or medical imaging students must be in good health; they must also be capable of constant mobility, heavy lifting, adjusting, and other routine physical activities. They must undergo a physical examination, have a tuberculosis scratch test done, and be vaccinated for measles, rubella, varicella (chickenpox), hepatitis b, tuberculosis, and tetanus within six months of beginning their Associate's degree program.
