Continued Education Credit (CEC) for Pharmacy Technicians in Virginia

If you went through a Virginia Pharmacy Technician state approved certification program, you will be required to earn CEC credits through that organization.  If you’re certified through the PTCB, you will need to follow their renewal requirements which can be found on the PTCB website Both have online renewal available.  Some things you might want to consider if you’re renewing with the PTCB is that their certification lasts for 2 years, and you must (no exceptions) complete 20 hours of Pharmacy related continued education credits before that two years expires.  Otherwise you could get stuck having to wait 90 days until you can take the exam again, and become recertified.  So make sure and work out those 20 hours with your pharmacist way in advance before your renewal date approaches, and it becomes too late to complete the required hours.
