Respiratory Therapy Programs in West Virginia - WV

West Virginia boasts one of the highest average salaries for respiratory therapists in the country, according to the US Labor Board of Statistics.  It also includes one of the top five highest paying salaries in a metropolitan area.  The state allows up to a year of paid experience for students who meet the criteria defined by West Virginia’s Board of Respiratory Care (WVBORC).  As populations and pollution continue to rise on the East Coast, respiratory therapists will be in high demand.  Coupled with general environmental concerns with the mining and manufacturing industries, it is clear that West Virginia will continue to require a growing number of respiratory therapists in the years to come.  West Virginia respiratory therapy schools and online programs are well-suited to facilitate an increase in enrollment to meet this demand.   Currently, West Virginia has an average salary for respiratory therapists that is 22% higher than the national average according to indeed.com

Continuing Educational Requirements for Respiratory Therapists in West Virginia

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s) are important to anyone applying to be or continue to be a respiratory therapist.  Only those seeking temporary licensure (students, CRT or RRT’s currently licensed in other states) or first-time applicants who matriculated from an in-state approved school do not need to include CEU’s in consideration for licensure.  Every other year, WVBORC chooses particular CEU credit requirements for those seeking to renew a license or to become fully licensed in West Virginia for the first time after practicing in another state.  Proof of completion of the required CEU’s must be submitted with your license renewal application or your license will not be renewed for the following year.

If you do not complete and submit the requirements for your initial license within 90 days of originally submitting the application thus allowing that application to expire, you may be forced to complete the required CEU’s for that year before being able to resubmit a new application.  WVBORC reserves final decisions in these matters.
