In order to do this, there are several steps to take. To work as an administrator in long-term care, Wisconsin nursing home education requirements start with the completion of a degree program, combined equivalent of specialized courses, or a program of study that the examining board considers adequate academic preparation for nursing home administration.

A Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration is one of the acceptable degree programs.  You will also need to complete a 12-month internship at a long-term health care facility in Wisconsin. Graduating from this program satisfies all educational requirements of the nursing home administration licensure boards of Wisconsin. Here are the steps to take after completing your education:

  • Take the Wisconsin nursing home national exam
