Certified Nurse Assistant Training in Wyoming

Wyoming is among the states that require a Nursing Assistant to graduate from a CNA training program and become certified prior to practicing in the medical profession. Wyoming offers multiple free training facilities and facilities that offer reimbursement of tuition upon employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant. After completing an accredited Wyoming CNA training program, the state requires a Nursing Assistant to achieve the state certification prior to employment in the profession. A certification is gained after successfully passing the state certification exam. After achieving the state certification, a Certified Nursing Assistant must renew their certification periodically or it will be revoked.

Although Wyoming only requires the federal requirements of 75 hours of training, most educational programs to become a Certified Nursing Assistant consists of a 100 hour curriculum. Most curriculums within the state follow a 40 hour clinical schedule that must be completed in order to graduate the training program. This is achieved under the supervision of an instructor at local nursing facilities, such as nursing homes and rehabilitation centers.

The instructional curriculum for a Nursing Assistant must follow the state approved guidelines set in place by the Wyoming Nursing Board. The training included in the instructional portion of the program teaches students the legal aspects of working in the profession. This includes proper handling of specimens, maintaining patient hygiene, and other safety procedures used to reduce the risk of public infections. Other portions of the instructional training include the basic communications skills needed to become a Nursing Assistant. This involves the ability to communicate with a patient to assess their condition.
