Midwives' Salaries in Wyoming - WY
Wyoming Midwife Salary
In recent years, the average midwife salary in Wyoming has remained between $116,000 to $119,000 per year. It is possible that with the onset of new recognition and licensing requirements that midwives in Wyoming may see an increase in their annual salary levels.
Interestingly, home births in Wyoming experienced a tremendous decrease between the years of 2003 and 2006, with an estimated 25.8% fewer number of births occurring either at home or in birthing clinics. Only 0.66% of all births during that time period were reported to be at-home deliveries. However, this report released by the Centers for Disease Control also purported that these decreases were likely the result of fewer birthing facilities and fewer qualified midwives, revealing that the number of facilities and medical personnel supporting the practice of midwifery simply were not available in certain areas of Wyoming.
However, as of July 2011, midwifery is going to be a licensed profession in Wyoming, which means that more clinics and organizations of midwives should become available to mothers that would choose to deliver their child at home. This should create for a substantial increase in the numbers of children born at home, as well as increase the number of professionals entering the practice of midwifery in Wyoming.
