Education for Respiratory Therapy in Wyoming

Associate degrees from accredited online programs or Wyoming respiratory therapist schools is the basic requirement in RT education.  The AA degree takes two years of study.  An advanced program for a Bachelor of Science degree is a four-year study.  Information on these programs can be accessed on-line and many classes are taken on-line.  Some of the required courses are human and cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, and pharmacology.  Also required are approximately1000 hours of clinical work and on-site laboratory experience.  These are set up in conjunction with the study program you have chosen.

To work in the field of respiratory therapy in Wyoming, the state requires that national certification is received by successfully completing the NBCR exam.  A state license is then issued by the Wyoming State Board for Respiratory Care.  The license is valid for two years and can then be renewed each following two years for $100.  Additional training requirements may be needed with certain specializations.  Your license also entitles you to add the initials RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) to your CRT or RRT identification. It shows that you are documented both as certified nationally and licensed in the state of Wyoming.
